The registration process will occur in two parts this year.

Once the committee approves your application you will be sent an e-mail with a link to put in the remainder of your information, make your other selections for additional tickets and dinner reservations and the like; and make your payment.

If you have any questions about or difficulty with the process, please call Lindy Robinson at 281-732-2081.

This year, the car folks are highlighting "Exotic Cars" and on the boat side we are highlighting "Texas Made Boats" with specific focus on Glastron, Yellow Jacket, Lone Star & Chrysler, Holmes, and Helton boats.

If you have a boat that is of a different make but manufactured in Texas please indicate that when you do the initial portion of the registration.

Our launch crew is full! Thanks to our members who have stepped up for this duty! Launch crew members report on Thursday, May 1 by 6 p.m. for the briefing. Work on the ramp begins at 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Members Learn About Chrysler Boat History, Adair Artwork at March Meeting!

The February 20 meeting of the WBA was held at Two Guys from Italy, and on Zoom. The agenda included a review of the Club's cares and concerns and upcoming events including the April 12 Lake Conroe and the May 3-4 Keels & Wheels. WBA member David Kanally presented the history of Chrysler Boats in Plano, along with a look at the life and artwork of the late, long-time member, Bob Adair. Bob's daughter Stefani was on hand for dinner and the presentation. So glad you could join us, Stefani!

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, April 17th at Two Guys. Don't miss it!

Project Updates from the Robin McGeorge Boat Shop and Beyond!

(Above) Lew White was on hand for a Quality Assurance tour of the shop recently, and presented Carl Lapiska with a well-earned certificate for his work on his Super Sport.

(Above) Alan Oppenheimer and cousin Herb apply the third coat of red paint to the bottom of the donated Yellow Jacket. One more coat ought to do it.

(Above) Chris McKeehan spray paints the transmission on the Continental's 283 V-8. The boat is in the upholstery shop and should be done soon.

(Above) Craig Godfrey and Phil Brosseau painted and reattached replacement parts on the Century Partners' Century Sabre.

(Above) Gordon Spriggs fairs the deck of his Glen-L barrel back. He's using a pneumatic longboard sander for the job.

(Above) Phil Wolff and helpers Jim Wolfe and Rhett Yeary have now added the "whiskey plank" completing the bottom of Phil's Coronado.

(Above) Carl uses epoxy thickened with adhesive filler to attach the aft sections of the rub rails for his 1964 Chris-Craft Super Sport.

(Above) David Kanally restored the trailer for the Yellow Jacket, grinding off all the old rust and paint, then priming and painting an understated gloss black.

(Above) Bill Mott, Mark McKeehan and Craig Godfrey discuss the reassembly of the McKeehans' V-8. Bench tests should come in the near future.

(Above) Granddaughter Hollis guides the ship as Stephanie and Greg McIlvoy apply the final coat of spar varnish on their Coronado's deck.

(Above) Gordon's Glen-L is really taking shape, as Gordon and David Kanally rounded the edges of the gunwales.

(Above) Barney Gulley brought his nearly complete 1957 Yellow Jacket Riviera out into the sunshine for some beauty shots recently. She'll be ready to launch soon.

Next Monthly Meeting April 17 Featuring Polishing Techniques. Don't Miss It!

boatOur next meeting will be Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at Two Guys From Italy in Dallas. Come at 5:30 and join us for the pre-meeting dinner. You'll receive an email reminder for the meeting a few days prior. We'll be continuing our door prize tradition, giving out an e-book, or print book of the lucky winner's choice, or a complimentary design of a boat show placard. Our presentation this month will be by restoration pro and WBA member Jay Emerson, who will share the latest techniques in blocking and polishing boats to a mirror finish. Jay has been privy to the latest in microabrasives and methods to achieve a truly show-worthy finish, and now you can learn them directly from him!

If you can't join in person, you'll be using the Zoom application for your cell phone or your home computer. To make things easier at meeting time, it would be a good idea for you to go to your normal smart phone app store to download Zoom Cloud Meetings, or go to Zoom.us on your home computer and sign up. Prior to the meeting, you will be sent an email with a link to join the meeting, and further instructions. Those who wait to download Zoom will also receive a link to do that just before the meeting starts. If you are among those who need a few attempts to be successful with technology, you may want to get the downloading taken care of ahead of time.

Our meetings are a great opportunity to socialize with fellow WBA members and to talk shop on questions about everything from paint and varnish to carburetor kits. Please join us on Zoom to be a part of our monthly fellowship!
