Minutes of the Meeting
October 19, 2006
The meeting was opened by President David Kanally at 7:30 PM at Quick Draw Doors Company. The group watched a brief video of the State Fair display done with WBA boats and cars from the Classic Chassis Car Club of Dallas.
Treasury Report - Phil Wolff submitted a written report that there is $2839.34 and all known bills are current.
Several new members were introduced by Membership Chairman Mark Webster. Joe Prouse, owner of a ’57 Yellow Jacket had joined the dinner group, and plans to attend future meetings. Kathy & Scott Hudson also were in attendance for their first meeting and have their boat in storage at the Lucas storage stalls.
Shop Report - Robin McGeorge - Work at the shop is proceeding on five boats: Jerry is continuing his varnishing, and is now up to ten coats; Chris still doing topside work on his Chris Craft; and Troy has turned his 17 ft Cavalier and removed the transom to permit repair of frame pieces and transom replacement in preparation for bottom glassing.
Phil Wolff, Bob Van Guilder and Les Burton were already on their way to Horseshoe Bay for the upcoming Austin boat show, so were not present at the meeting. David Kanally also plans on attending, but will leave on Friday.
The Holiday Party will be on December 2, at the home of Cheryl and David Kanally in Coppell. Invitations are forthcoming.
The Annual Banquet will be held on January 13th, 2007 at the Canyon Creek Country Club. A speaker
A slate of officers for election at the November meeting is nearly complete. President David Kanally, Vice President Bob Van Guilder and Treasurer Phil Wolff have offered to continue their terms for a second year. The Club is seeking nominees for Secretary, at Stan Lehnhardt’s request, for health reasons. Richard Haug was nominated from the floor during the meeting. David will follow up with Richard on his nomination.
Bob Adair gave a fascinating presentation of his design work done during his many years at Chrysler Boats in Plano. Bob is an industrial designer by training and profession, and displayed a number of his conceptual designs for decks, interiors and hulls of Chrysler models, together with production photographs of the boats he designed. The Club is fortunate to have such a talented designer in our midst!
New business. The club will have to find a new meeting place for February on next year, Quick Draw is transforming the current meeting space in to offices. Mark Webster suggested the use of a restaurant that has a private room that could be used both for dinner and the meeting. Several suggestions were made of restaurants in the North Dallas area. A short list will be presented at the November meeting.
