Mark reported the addition of five new members and introduced Ed White and Bill Knight.
Bob presented a video created by David Kanally of the Ride & Show event. Another master piece of production genius.
Shop Report - Robin McGeorge - Work at the shop is proceeding on five boats: Jerry is continuing his varnishing; Phil is continuing work on the bottom of his Century; Chris still doing topside work on his Chris Craft; Robin is working on Carburetor, water pump, and gas pump problems in the Black Boat; and Troy (our new man in Lucas) has turned his 17 ft Cavalier and removed the transom to permit repair of frame pieces and transom replacement in preparation for bottom glassing.
Tickets and boat passes were passed out for those planning to participate in the State Fair display scheduled for Columbus Day. Twelve owners have signed up so far. We will be sharing the event with a car club. Walter Hill is coordinating the event for the WBA.
Information on the upcoming Austin boat show is available at
www.sw-acbs.org. More hotel information is needed since the designated hotel is already full on that date.Sam Westbrook gave a great presentation on nautical flags. (The study of flags is vexillology) It’s amazing how much there is to learn about the derivation of the various flags. Even the pirates had unique flags for each command. Sam is an avid collector.
Les Burton showed off his latest model creation, a cowboy holding a real bottle of booze.
New business. The November meeting will kick off the nomination process for next year’s officers. Robin has agreed to try to schedule the country club for the banquette on January 20, or alternatively on the 27th. Suggestions for a speaker are needed. The club will have to find a new meeting place for February on next year, Quick Draw needs the space.
Meeting closed at 9:00 PM.
