Minutes of the Meeting

The meeting was opened by President Mark Webster promptly at 7:30 PM.
Membership Chairman Bob VanGuilder announced three new members, two of which were in attendance. The third new member resides in Pennsylvania and found our club via the internet.
A presentation was made by Nelson Ringmacher from the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Grapevine Flotilla. Mr. Ringmacher discussed the organizational structure and authority of the Auxiliary and its focus on promoting safe boating through public education and voluntary vessel inspections. A video was shown regarding the joint Coast Guard/Dept. of Homeland Security/Coast Guard Auxiliary program called Waterway Watch. This program encourages private boaters to be on the lookout for any suspicious activities on and around the nations waterways.
August 13 will be the Marina Day event at Joe Pool Lake. On August 27,28 & 29 will be the Ride & Show event at Sneaky Petes on Lewisville Lake. Cocktail hour will begin at 6:30 Friday night with dinner at 8:00. Boating at leisure will be on Saturday and a buffet will be served at 10:00 on Sunday morning.
Les Burton updated us on Lake Granbury and indicated that he could not locate a marina that could provide the number of courtesy slips the club would need to hold a rendezvous.
As a follow-up to business from the June meeting Dick Peterson proposed amending Article 5 of the Constitution to allow for Associate Membership. A motion was made whereby associate memberships would be allowed with the following stipulations:
- Associate Members would have no voting rights;
- Associate Members may not hold an office; and
- Associate Members would be charged dues at the annual rate of WBA dues plus $10.00.
The motion was discussed and voted upon. The vote was 17-0 in favor of the motion.
Mike Gomes was good enough to supply the excellent treats for the session.
