WBA Meeting Minutes June 15th, 2007

The June meeting of 2007 was called to order at 7:03PM by President David Kanally at the Midway Point Restaurant. 13 were present at the start of the meeting. We moved immediately into reports:

Treasurer's Report - Phil Wolff: Treasury account balance is $1,999.23 plus $5.00 donated by David Kanally to get us over the $2,000.00 mark. The balance does not include the funds offered by the Southwest Chapter of the ACBS.

Membership Report - Mark Webster: We have 3 new members: Frank Aldridge and his 1949 Higgins, Terry Bryce with a 1963 19ft Century and Terry Kimberly with a Century Coronado.

Secretary's Report - Richard Haug: Nothing to report. The May meeting minutes were approved by the group.

Vice President's Report - Bob Van Guilder in absentia: No report.

Project Reports - Robin McGeorge:

Mark Webster is close to moving his XK22 to upholstery. The engine and outdrive are
in/on the boat. The final step will be to take the boat for its final finish/clear coat.

Phil Wolf has his 18ft Century Resorter in the shop which is available on ebay for those
looking for a good project boat.  Additional news will be forthcoming on his Coronado
project.

Robin McGeorge has been working on Black Beauty.   The decks have had additional
coats of varnish applied and he is in the process of adding a few new coats of black paint.

Jerry Foltyn's Mercury project is nearing the end of the line as he makes decisions on
instrument placement and completes wiring with Stan's help.

Dave Kanally's sailboat update is on its second coat of bottom paint.   The bottom was
faired true with no issues.  The decks will be getting a coat of paint and the brightwork
will be next on the list.

Please see Robin McGeorge to discuss your potential project and scheduling shop time. There may be shop space available in the coming months.

New Business/Updates/Events:

The membership had a moment of remembrance as Dick Peterson would have been 77 today.

Upcoming Events:

Ride 'n Show - Aug. 25th & 26th :

David Kanally presented details for the room and menu options for the membership to consider for
Sneaky Pete's. The Dinner Menu options were narrowed down and voted on with the selected $25
per person buffet dinner being chosen. The buffet would include: house salad with cherry
tomatoes, cherry peppers red onions and herb croutons; sliced french bread; vegetable medley;
roasted rosemary potatoes; pecan chicken topped with a praline sauce; sliced roast beef with wild
mushroom au jus.

Friday evening August 24th, Al Sarah Kramer have invited us back to the "Garage Ma-hall" for
barbeque.

Friday evening festivities will be covered with the funds committed to us from the Southwest
ACBS. We should also look at doing what we can to have an ebay surge to help fund the event
activities.

We will need to send invitations out soon and look at on-line registration. Maps will also need to
be created for the get together at the Kramer's Friday evening the 24th.

Sunday brunch will be pay-as-you-go at Sneaky Pete's buffet with no commitment to them for the
number of attendee's. We will need to also make sure everyone is aware of its availability after
the Sunday morning run on the lake.

Launching and Slips will be managed by Phil Wolf again this year.

Parts day at the Lucas shop needs to be rescheduled so we can clean and organize parts to generate revenue.

National Marina Day will be August 11th and we are invited back again to Joe Poole Lake and the Lynn Creek Marina.

Pier 121 event with the Classic Car club is scheduled for September 22nd.

Lake LBJ (Austin/Hill Country Show) SW ACBS event for October 12th through the 14th will not be at Horseshoe Bay Resort this year. It seems the facility is under new management forcing the change. More to come on the status of this event.

Eagle Mountain Show Report: The show was attended by Mike Gomes, Phil Wolf and Richard Haug which turned out to be a nice day for boating in spite of recent weather the area had recieved. There were many cruisers on hand including the West Texan which is a 1948 Chris Craft cruiser owned by the Amon Carter family. The event was publicly judged across 6 classes and Richard Haug's CC Capri won best in the runabout class by popular vote.

Upcoming Meeting Programs: Richard Haug will present at the July 19th meeting and the topic will be on the Gold Cup and Powerboat racing before 1950. David Kanally will present at the August 16th meeting.

June Meeting Presentation:

Mark Webster with his assistant Maddy presented "Classic Boats of Lake Geneva". Known as the "Newport of the North" Lake Geneva is not to be confused with its associated town known as Geneva Lake. The lake was created by the withdrawal of the glaciers and was confiscated from the Potawatomee Indians in 1836. Outstanding photos of boats like "Helen", a 1939 33ft Hacker of the Wrigley family, "Miss Dixie" a 29ft runabout, "Moon Glade" which is a 29ft Stancraft, "Fireball" which is a Gage Hacker boat and a 1910 Pederson Swedish built launch. For more information, Mark suggested the book "Grand and Glorious" by Larry Larkin.

New Business: Robin McGeorge let the membership know on behalf of Bev Peterson that she is interested in selling the white 2004 Cadillac Escalade which has roughly 47,000 miles on it and is complete with a tow package. The asking price is $26,000.00. Please contact Robin or Bev for additional information.

The meeting was then brought to a close at 8:14PM.
