Minutes of the Meeting

April 19, 2007

The April meeting of 2007 was called to order at 7:10PM by Vice President Bob Van Guilder at the Midway Point Restaurant. We moved immediately into reports:

Vice President's Report - Bob Van Guilder: Nothing to report other than working on Fine Wine in preparation for Keels & Wheels Show.

Treasurer's Report - Phil Wolff: Treasury account balance is $1,931.67. Lowery Mathews has informed us that the Southwest Chapter of ACBS has contributed $1,000.00 to the WBA in support of the Ride ‘N Show. Mike Gomes has also provided additional donations totaling up to $265.00. Our thanks to our supporters for the additional funds.

Secretary's Report – Richard Haug: Nothing to report. Previous meetings minutes were approved as printed by the group.

Membership Report – Mark Webster: No new members at this time. An update was provided on Larry Hill’s health and best wishes were relayed via a Get Well Card from the WBA. Bev Peterson is doing fine in her new home and stills wants to keep up with her WBA membership and participate in events.

Project Reports – Robin McGeorge:

Both Troy Marshal’s boat and Bob Van Guilder’s boats will be out of the shop in time for Keels & Wheels so there will be space available in the shop to work on your project. Please schedule any project activities with Robin McGeorge.

Dave Kanally's sailboat update: Lewis White gave us a quick update on bending a 7/8’s fir plank into place at the garboard.

New Business/2007 Planning:

Keels & Wheels: WBA will be supporting the show by providing Launch and Recovery of boats as well as Judging at the show. See Phil Wolf for the launch crew if you would like to participate or Bob Van Guilder for Judging on Saturday.

Greg Story of the National Meteorological Society will present at our May 17th Meeting.

Parts Day at the Shop was cancelled due to some other schedule conflicts and will be revisited after the Keels & Wheels Show. It maybe rescheduled for a mid to late May date.

Discussion was had about a possible informal meet at the Van Guilder’s in July. Bob indicated that he would let us know more as his plans firmed up.

Meeting Programs: We still have openings for June and July presentations so please let David Kanally know if you are interested in either date.

The meeting Presentation was from Jim Wolff on 2 and 4 stroke engines. Jim covered topics that included the differences between the two engines, horse power, torque, camshaft lobes, lift, duration and compression ratios. It was a very informative talk. See Jim for additional details.

After the presentation the meeting was brought to a close.
