Brief discussion of ACBS e-mail going around about “Best of Show Class Guidelines”.  There is an on going discussion regarding restored verse rebuilt.  Also in considering boat classification and to handle the inclusion of newer boats including what would be considered classic fiberglass boats verse non-classic.

Health note about magnetic name badges and pacemakers.  It is recommended that if you do have a pacemaker that you not wear your magnetic name badge near it or not at all.  There is some concern the magnets, which are strong, might interfere with the proper function of the device.

May Meeting Presentation:

Greg Story of the National Meteorological Society presented.  Greg covered a variety of topics associated with weather in our area including sharing photos of some recent flooding and tornados.  Greg also showed us the model indicating a stronger than normal La Nina this year which is an indicator of a strong hurricane season out of the Atlantic.  Other terms and their impact on our weather included SST (or Sea Surface Temperature), El Nino, the Greenhouse Effect, and Global Warming.  Greg also highly recommends Christine Kahaneck for our local weather TV reporting.  He recommends looking at their website at www.srh.noaa.gov/wgrfc.

After the presentation the meeting was brought to a close.
