Bob handed out an Agenda for the meeting and we moved into reports:

Vice President - Mark Webster: Nothing to report.

Secretary's Report – Richard Haug: Nothing to report. Previous meeting minutes submitted for approval.

Membership Report – Mike Gomes (absent):  All invoices are out that should be for dues.  We have 2 new members, have 2 lapsed members renew and 4 members have fallen into lapsed status (defined as being more than 6 months behind).  We had in attendance Doug Vail, Lisa Daniels and Bev Peterson.

Project Reports – Robin McGeorge:

·         Phil Wolff: Project: a 1952 17ft Century Sea Maid is upside down and Phil has started replacing frames and gripe.

·         Richard Haug: 1962 19ft Shepherd has had the bottom fiber glassed and painted.  Next are the hull sides and replacing a few planks on the trransome.

·         Troy Marshal: 1948 22ft. Hacker has had side frames rebuilt and new chines have been started.  New stem is in place and needs shaping and Troy is looking for suggestion on how to best get the stem installed and shaped correctly.

·         Bob Adair: Has finished sanding the hull of his Chrysler and should be ready to spray paint soon.

Please see Robin McGeorge to discuss your potential project and scheduling shop time.

Publicity Report - David Kanally: working on building visibility community bulletin boards as we near specific events.  He would also like to get photos of the various restorations on-going at the Lucas shop.

Signalman: An invitation was extended to Lisa Daniels to take on the role.  Charles Bowser has moved to the VA Hospital and was in good spirits as reported by Walter Hill.  Charles is working on gaining his weight and strength back which is why he has transitioned to the VA.  He can be reached in the Transitional Care Unit of the VA Hospital located at 4500 S. Lancaster Blvd., Room #140 Dallas, TX 75216.  The main phone is 214-302-1920.

Archives:  Seb Borello has been going through the club archives and has added Dave Kanally’s DVD’s to the box.

Dallas Winter Boat Show:  Walter Hill spent many hours working the show for the WBA.  Mark and Elizabeth Webster did the signage for the WBA area of the show.  Many thanks from the club to Walter, Mark and Elizabeth for their efforts and those who manned the booth are during the show.  David Kanally announced that the “Runabout Pin” sales went well at the show and that the breakeven point was reached so that all remaining sales of the pins will go directly into the club treasury.  At this time a David Kanally video was shown of the participating member’s boats: David Kanally’s Cowell, Mark Webster’s XK22 Chris Craft, Bob Van Guilder’s Dart, Troy Marshal’s Cavalier, Robin McGeorge’s Black Beauty, and Roy Schindler’s XK19 Chris Craft.

New Business/Updates/Events:

ACBS Southwest:  Update provided by Bob Van Guilder who was recently in Houston for a Keels & Wheels meeting.  Same people involved as last year.  Robert Black will be handling the boat side of the Keels & Wheels show this year.  If you are not a member of the ACBS, you should consider it if not for the membership directory alone.  Southwest ACBS events are listed in the handouts provide by Bob.  There is also a “Yahoo Group” established by Craig Stanfield.  Look it up and request to be a member.

2008 Planning:

Bob Van Guilder lead a review of the events proposed for 2008.  The calendar will be revised and published for everyone to review.

·         Columbus Day Show Discussion:  Level of interest in continuing?  Possibly move it to the weekend as the Classic car club preferred for their show?  David Kanally has offered to look into the possibility of moving our attendance to the weekend.

·         Classics on the Lake:  Bill Kimbal has offered to coordinate that activity with the car club.

·         Southwest ACBS Hill Country Show:  The Show will be held at the same place on Lake Austin as it was held last year.

·         Annual WBA Holiday Party:  Will be held at the Van Guilder’s this year on the first Saturday in December which is the 6th.

·         WBA Annual Installation Banquet:  The banquet is facility dependent.  Robyn McGeorge is our contact and will work on getting a date in January 2009 established.

·         White Rock Lake/Corinthian Club:  Some discussion about running our boats on White Rock Lake for the annual opening day for the Corinthian Club.  Walter Hill will be following up with Phil Morris.

·         Ride ‘N Show: The weekend of August 22nd – 24th.  We would like to emulate the ACBS Horse Shoe Bay show.  The WBA started looking last year for a change of venue but for the year 2008 it was agreed to keep it at Lake Lewisville unless another venue became a clear option.  One suggestion was the new Bass Pro facility but there maybe location/proximity issues to the other activities associated with the show.

Advisory Board:  Bob Van Guilder provided a slide on how he sees the board assisting him.  It is comprised of WBA officers and other club members to collect ideas for the club for possible presentation.  Current members include Seb Borello and David Kanally.  Bob is looking for out of area participation here as well.

Monthly Meeting Presentations:  Bob offered up a slide for possible presentation topic ideas for the year.  The sign up sheet for each meeting was passed around.

Other New Business/Announcements:

Seb Borrello mentioned some concern from Bob Kubicek about flammables storage in the shop.  Possible solution is a cabinet designed for that purpose.  They retail as high as $450.00 and have been advertised in Craig’s list for $238.00.

David Kanally mentioned the growth potential of funds via eBay and that he would be happy to work it for the club.  He would like to organize an effort to sell any parts out of the shop to generate funds.

Out of the area member Bill Baldwin is moving back to Dallas at the end pf April and is expected to become active in the chapter again.

Member update: Charles Bowser is doing well now and is in room #101 at Heritage Place in Mesquite.  If you can get by to see him and have some boating magazines you would like to take he would welcome the company.  Heritage Place is at 825 W. Kearny Drive in Mesquite, TX 75149.  The phone number is 972-288-7668.

With no further new business the meeting was then adjourned at 8:45PM.
