Cruisin' Lewisville Lake a Hit!

November 15 had to be the most beautiful day of the month, with bright sunshine and a steady breeze...just the right conditions for the annual Cruisin' Lewisville Lake show at Pier 121. The WBA brought the boats, while a number of area car clubs provided a rich variety of classic and contemporary cars. Video here!

Organizer and DYC Commodore Katina Real presented awards to the top three boats, which included Jim Wolfe's Coronado, Kip Jacobson's Coronado (pictured below) and Phil Wolfe's Resorter. John Ables was awarded Best of Show for his Chris Craft, and David Kanally took home the Commodore's award for his Cowell outboard.

Holiday Party This Wednesday, December 3!

There's still time to RSVP for the WBA Christmas Party, to be held this Wednesday, December 3rd at Maggiano's! Dues-paying members received an eVite in early November. If you haven't received one, please let Phil Brosseau know. If you've waited until now to RSVP, better hop to it! We're looking forward to sharing a warm evening of food and fellowship with all who can attend.

Here's to the start of a joyous Christmas season!

Welcome to Eric Wueste, our New WBA Secretary!

Our new WBA Secretary, Eric Wueste, is seen at left with his son, Jacob, receiving a Silver Award for his beautifully restored fiberglass Yellow Jacket at Keels & Wheels earlier this year. Eric hails from the Conroe area, and credits the help he's received from the club as a major reason he has decided to serve the club as Secretary. Eric succeeds Trey Bull, who has served as Secretary for the past six years. Trey will continue the great job he's been doing in Membership.

Eric was duly elected along with the incumbent officers at the November WBA meeting. He'll begin his duties at the January 2026 meeting. Congratulations, Eric, and welcome!

Don't Forget to Winterize Your Boat!

Our favorite snowler bear is back, reminding you that freezing weather is just around the corner. As the colder weather arrives, don't forget to winterize your boat. Drain all the water from the engine, stabilize your fuel, and take all the precautions necessary to make sure you'll be ready to go for next season. If you own an outboard motor, be sure to drain the lower unit (it is very common for water to get in there), and replace the lubricant with fresh stuff.

There are a variety of techniques published on line for this procedure if you are new to our hobby. Here's a link to the ACBS article on the subject.

Club Elects 2026 Officers, Sees Event Recap at November Meeting

During the November 20, 2025 meeting of the WBA, the Club members present elected officers for the coming year: Phil Brosseau, President; Craig Godfrey, Vice-President; Eric Wueste, Secretary; and Chris McKeehan, Treasurer. Outgoing Secretary, Trey Bull will remain in his role as Membership Chair. Special thanks to all our 2026 officers for their willingness to serve our club in this way.

In addition, David Kanally showed a video recap of the November 15 Cruisin' Lewisville Lake event, which is now available for viewing on the WBA Photos and Videos page. See the video here, or click on the image at right.

Project Updates from the Robin McGeorge Boat Shop!

(Above) Carl Lapiska has applied and Scotch-brited the first coat of diluted varnish on the deck of his Super Sport.

(Above) Ray Widmer has been restoring a beautiful sailing dinghy at his home. Named "Snow Bird", the little craft has received extensive repairs.

(Above) Alan Oppenheimer and Pat Vinson's Yellow Jacket is nearing completion. With deck hardware, dashboard and lighting installed, it will soon be time to restore the motor.

(Above) Chris and Mark McKeehan's Continental has all its upholstery installed. The boat will soon make a glorious return to the Robin McGeorge boat shop.

Bill Mott applies the second coat of green bottom paint to the 1955 Yellow Jacket Capri donated to the WBA by Danny Beaver.

(Above) The aft deck of Carl's Super Sport is ready for the next coat of varnish...full strength this time. Only 12 to 14 coats to go!

(Above) Ray has redone the frames and chosen a striking mahogany-on-white color scheme for Snow Bird's interior. What a unique little boat!

(Above) Alan uses a heat gun on the low setting to soften some stubborn masking tape that has been protecting the red bottom paint during the varnishing process.

(Above) Mark inspects the dash and seat upholstery in the Continental. The McKeehans studied the specs of the '59 to make sure their upholstery was correct.

David Kanally restored the Mastercraft trailer donated by Danny Beaver. Since this photo was taken, David and Carl have wired the lights for the trailer.

Next Monthly Meeting January 15, 2026

boatOur next meeting will be Thursday, January 15th, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Two Guys From Italy in Dallas. (There is no regular meeting in December, due to the Christmas Party.) Come at 5:30 and join us for the pre-meeting dinner. You'll receive an email reminder for the meeting a few days prior. We'll be continuing our door prize tradition, giving out an e-book, or print book of the lucky winner's choice, or a complimentary design of a boat show placard. In lieu of a presentation, we will be using our time together to lay out the plans for the 2025 season, including events throughout the area, program ideas, and other opportunities to enjoy our hobby together.

If you can't join in person, you'll be using the Zoom application for your cell phone or your home computer. To make things easier at meeting time, it would be a good idea for you to go to your normal smart phone app store to download Zoom Cloud Meetings, or go to Zoom.us on your home computer and sign up. Prior to the meeting, you will be sent an email with a link to join the meeting, and further instructions. Those who wait to download Zoom will also receive a link to do that just before the meeting starts. If you are among those who need a few attempts to be successful with technology, you may want to get the downloading taken care of ahead of time.

Our meetings are a great opportunity to socialize with fellow WBA members and to talk shop on questions on everything from paint and varnish to carburetor kits. Please join us on Zoom to be a part of our monthly fellowship!

Shop Talk and Musings: Thanks to our outgoing Secretary, Trey Bull

Trey Bull has been taking and publishing our club minutes for the past six years...and that's a contribution that deserves our recognition! Our minutes are the official record of the deliberations of the club, and document our votes, our activities, our plans and our expenditures. We thank Trey for is years of service as our Secretary.

All the while, Trey has also been a catalyst for club growth as our Membership Chair. Happily, Trey is continuing in that role, maintaining our Roster, reminding people to pay their dues (have you paid yours for 2026?), and recruiting new members from among his many acquaintances in the boating world.

Trey's a busy guy, who also holds offices in Chris Craft Antique Boat Club and the Antique and Classic Boat Association. Thanks for your willingness to serve, Trey!

And finally, please take a look in the shed or garage for leftover parts or other salable items you would like to donate to the Club. Contact David Kanally at david@historywithheart.com for more info.
