LBJ Show Had Great Weather and Fellowship!

Lisa and Lindy Robinson did a fabulous job of organizing the Lake LBJ show on October 8-10. From the early morning runs to the show and group meals, the event was excellent.

SWACBS and WBA members from across the state participated, incuding old friends and new. Above, WBA member Vivek Sant takes a turn at the helm of John Ables' Chris Craft, and appears to be hooked for life!  The weather was spectacular, and made for some epic runs on the lake.  Thanks to those who brought their boats and to all who attended this wonderful gathering!

Manistee, Port Huron Videos Featured at October WBA Meeting!

At the October 15th meeting of the WBA, President Phil Brosseau reviewed the standing agenda items, including upcoming events and activities of the club. The meeting also included Treaurer and Secretary reports, and project updates.

During dinner, David Kanally showed a video of the Century 100th Anniversary Show, shot by Craig Godfrey.  You can watch that video here.

The main presentation of the evening was the Port Huron video shot by Craig Godfrey. View it here!

The meeting was lively and well-attended.  Be sure to make room in your busy schedule to attend our next meeting on November 19.

Updates from the Robin McGeorge Boat Shop and Beyond!

When we asked a few guys to come out to the shop to help Mark Wilson pull the V-8 out of his Chris-Craft Grand Prix, everybody showed up!

Phil Wolff took his Coronado to Emerson Boat Works in McAlester, OK, where buddy Jim Wolfe and Jay's right hand man, Jeff, helped stain the boat.

Carl Lapiska is shown here testing a two-step caulking technique for the foredeck seam of this Super Sport.

Ray Widmer has completed a beautiful restoration and paint job on his Elgin molded hull boat, built by Yellow Jacket and sold by Sears under the Elgin name.

The crew used the shop gantry to pull the engine, then set it on a dolly so that Bill Mott, David Kanally and Mark could strip it down to be sent to the machine shop

Jeff Hill is doing a very thorough job of preparing the bottom of his 1926 Disappearing Propeller Boat for paint and varnish.  Nearly all lapstrake seams have been sealed.

The aft deck seams are now complete, so Carl is applying his learning from that success to the foredeck.  Beautiful!

Ray is also restoring a sailing dinghy named "Snow Bird". Ray has replaced all 22 of her frames with new, laminated ones.  The white interior provides a beautiful contrast

Next Monthly Meeting November 19, 2026

boatOur next meeting will be Thursday, November 19, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Two Guys From Italy in Dallas. Come at 5:30 and join us for the pre-meeting dinner. You'll receive an email reminder for the meeting a few days prior. We'll be continuing our door prize tradition, giving out an e-book, or print book of the lucky winner's choice, or a complimentary design of a boat show placard. This month's presentation will be an update from the Lawson Center in Bemus Point, NY by our own Pat Baldwin.

If you can't join in person, you'll be using the Zoom application for your cell phone or your home computer. To make things easier at meeting time, it would be a good idea for you to go to your normal smart phone app store to download Zoom Cloud Meetings, or go to Zoom.us on your home computer and sign up. Prior to the meeting, you will be sent an email with a link to join the meeting, and further instructions. Those who wait to download Zoom will also receive a link to do that just before the meeting starts. If you are among those who need a few attempts to be successful with technology, you may want to get the downloading taken care of ahead of time.

Our meetings are a great opportunity to socialize with fellow WBA members and to talk shop on questions on everything from paint and varnish to carburetor kits. Please join us on Zoom to be a part of our monthly fellowship!

Shop Talk and Musings: Let's Wrap up the Season in Style!

The Cruisin' Lewisville Lake show is our last chance to get together to show our boats this year, and this show is the closest of any for the majority of our membership. If you haven't registered yet, please do so today.  We will be displaying our boats at the Marina this year, and we have room for land displays as well.  Please give special consideration to participating in this show.  It's the last show of the season, and the WBA needs your help to have a solid representation of our club.  Register today!

And finally, please take a look in the shed or garage for leftover parts or other salable items you would like to donate to the Club. Contact David Kanally at david@historywithheart.com for more info.
