Barney Gulley made the long drive from Denison to present his story of building two different kinds of small wooden boats from scratch: the first, a gaff-rigged sailboat designed for the grueling Texas 200 race, and the second, a sailing canoe with outriggers (left). Barney explained his use of lumberyard materials, epoxy and fiberglass to construct wooden boats with modern materials. His presentation got us all thinking about another approach to wooden boating. Thanks, Barney, for a fascinating look into a contemporary segment of the wooden boat hobby! The meeting also included regular club business, with a reminder that we will be voting on a new VP and Treasurer at the November meeting. Please be sure to attend! |
