LBJ Show Just Around the Corner, Oct. 8-10!

Lisa and Lindy Robinson are well on their way to finalizing the details of the 2026 Lake LBJ show and rendezvous, taking place at Horseshoe Bay Marina, October 8-10.

 

 
A goodly number of WBA members have already indicated their intent to attend.  Why not join them, and have a great time with friends. Let Lisa know if you can come.
Century Partners Win Big at Tahoe Concours d'Elegance!

Century Partners Alan Oppenheimer, Chris Sterlacci and Craig Godfrey accept the Best Century of Show award at the Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance on August 7, 2026.  The fourth partner, Phil Brosseau, was on a family trip in Alaska, but quickly received a call from the others about the win.

 

 

The Partners' 1965 Century Sabre also brought home the Best of Class Award and the People's Choice Award. What a great showing for our guys! (Pat Vinson photo).

Following a last minute push to get the boat ready for the show, Chris and Craig teamed up to tow the boat from Dallas to Lake Tahoe.  Robin Godrey and Caitlin Sterlacci, Alan Oppenheimer, Pat Vinson, Bill Mott and David Kanally flew to California to round out the WBA delegation.  Craig and Chris towed the boat home safely.  Video here!
North Texas Water District Projects Featured at August Meeting

 

 

At the August 20th meeting of the WBA, President Phil Brosseau reviewed the standing agenda items, including upcoming events and activities of the club. The meeting also included Treaurer and Secretary reports, and project updates.

For the presentation,  Lauren Plunk, an environmental scientist at the Water District, explained the sources of water for Lake Lavon, showed maps and diagrams of the North Texas water district, and advised the group on actions that are being taken to protect the purity of our drinking water and to prepare for future demand in a rapidly growing area.  Thank you, Lauren!

Updates from the Robin McGeorge Boat Shop and Beyond!

Scott Carr and Phil Sims rebuild and polish the lights for the Yellow Jacket Capri.  Scott got the stern light working, while Phil rebuilt the bow light.  Good work, guys!

The 1955 Yellow Jacket Capri is really coming together with one more coat of varnish and a few coats of floor paint to go.

The McKeehans' 1959 Continental is ready for the road now with its brand new towing cover.

Carl Lapiska has been into the fine details of finishing the deck of his '64 Super Sport.

Mark McKeehan and Bill Mott go to town on the finish of the Yellow Jacket. Mark is wet sanding the interior in preparation for varnish.  Bill is buffing the deck.

Bill Mott sanded and primed the gas can for the Yellow Jacket.  The fuel gauge needs some work, too.  More to come at the next work session.

Jeff Hill is painstakingly preparing the bottom and hull sides of his 1926 Dispro for refinishing.

Here, Carl is cleaning out his caulked and varnished aft deck seams following a light sanding.  More varnish next.

Next Monthly Meeting September 17, 2026

boatOur next meeting will be Thursday, September 17th, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Two Guys From Italy in Dallas. Come at 5:30 and join us for the pre-meeting dinner. You'll receive an email reminder for the meeting a few days prior. We'll be continuing our door prize tradition, giving out an e-book, or print book of the lucky winner's choice, or a complimentary design of a boat show placard. This month's presentation is being finalized as of press time and will be announced in the next reminder.

If you can't join in person, you'll be using the Zoom application for your cell phone or your home computer. To make things easier at meeting time, it would be a good idea for you to go to your normal smart phone app store to download Zoom Cloud Meetings, or go to Zoom.us on your home computer and sign up. Prior to the meeting, you will be sent an email with a link to join the meeting, and further instructions. Those who wait to download Zoom will also receive a link to do that just before the meeting starts. If you are among those who need a few attempts to be successful with technology, you may want to get the downloading taken care of ahead of time.

Our meetings are a great opportunity to socialize with fellow WBA members and to talk shop on questions on everything from paint and varnish to carburetor kits. Please join us on Zoom to be a part of our monthly fellowship!

Shop Talk and Musings: Century's 100th Birthday, Manistee, MI Sept. 12!

This is a big year for the Century boat owners and enthusiasts around the country. Century is marking its 100th anniversary, and the Century Boat Club is holding the largest event in its history on September 11-13, in Manistee, Michigan.  With 100 boats already registered, the 100th birthday will be something to behold...a birthday party worthy of the Century legacy.  Five WBA Centurys are slated to attend, including those of Phil Wolff, Jim Wolfe, Kit Jacobsen, Robert Aldrich and the Century Partners.  Thanks to these avid Century WBA members who are investing in this important event!  Additional WBA representatives will include Mark and Chris McKeehan, who will be attending boatless. Read more about the event here!
