WBA Delegation Explores Table Rock Lake!

David and Loretta Sheets, seen here at right, have long said that Table Rock Lake and its surroundings in Missouri are one of their favorite places on the planet, and they've been attending and documenting their visits to the Heartland Classics "Classics Cruisin' Table Rock Lake" event on and off for the past eight years. This year's event was was held May 29-31 at the Port of Kimberling marina and hotel. Fellow members of the Club have also fallen in love with the place and have, for years, been representing the

WBA very capably with their boats and participation in this popular event. (Standing) Kit Jacobson and Phil Wolff. (Seated) Inna Donovan, Jim Donovan and John Ables.

Donations from Borrello, Lehnhardt Enrich Club and Shop!

Carl Lapiska uses the shop's new table saw, donated by Stan Lenhardt, to cut complex angles on a spray rail. The saw is much larger and more precise than our old one.

Stan's donation also included a number of other tools, including a router, Skil saw and more! At right, a large, 34" anchor pole, turned on a lathe by Seb Borrello, will make a great centerpiece for WBA meetings until the club decides what its permanent use will be. Both Stan and Seb have added value to our club through their generous donations. Many thanks to both these longtime members for their gifts. Thanks, too, to John Ables, Bill Mott and Mark McKeehan, who moved the tools from Stan's place to the shop!

David Sheets Shares Video From Table Rock at June Meeting!

The June 19th meeting of the WBA was held on Zoom and at Two Guys from Italy in Dallas. The agenda included the usual officers' reports as well as reminders of upcoming events and activities of the club.

Shop updates were discussed, as was the availability of one of the stalls at the shop for your next restoration! Please let David Kanally know if you would like to get your boat into the shop for some work.

David Sheets shared footage he shot at Classics Cruisin' Table Rock Lake event in a video edited by David Kanally. Jim Donovan added a report on the 80-mile cruise completed by a number of event attendees. Video here!

Project Updates from the Robin McGeorge Boat Shop!

(Above) Bill Mott and Mark McKeehan make final connections and adjustments before firing up Mark's 283. Hear her roar here!

(Above) Bill Mott and Alan Oppenheimer test fit the rear seat in the Yellow Jacket prior to sending the seats off to the trim shop for upholstery.

(Above) Gordon Spriggs isn't very happy with the latest turn of events with his Glen-L. Warm temperatures have caused the fresh seam caulk to expand during curing.

(Above) Carl Lapiska drills and countersinks mounting holes in the port spray rail of his Super Sport.

(Above) Mark, Bill and Carl work on fine-tuning the carb and timing as the McKeehan's 283 comes to life for the first time since its rebuild. Rewarding day!

(Above) Bill applies another coat of spar varnish to the foredeck of the Yellow Jacket. After this, he and Alan wet sanded the varnish in preparation for the next coat.

(Above) David Kanally has spent a good number of hours cutting the expanded caulk out of the Glen-L's seams. He and Gordon are opting for multiple thin coats now.

Next Monthly Meeting July 17 Featuring PFD Presentation. Don't Miss It!

boatOur next meeting will be Thursday, July 17th, at 7 p.m. at Two Guys From Italy in Dallas. Come at 5:30 and join us for the pre-meeting dinner. You'll receive an email reminder for the meeting a few days prior. We'll be continuing our door prize tradition, giving out an e-book, or print book of the lucky winner's choice, or a complimentary design of a boat show placard. Our presentation this month will be a presentation on personal flotation devices by a represtative of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Don't miss this important safety information!

If you can't join in person, you'll be using the Zoom application for your cell phone or your home computer. To make things easier at meeting time, it would be a good idea for you to go to your normal smart phone app store to download Zoom Cloud Meetings, or go to Zoom.us on your home computer and sign up. Prior to the meeting, you will be sent an email with a link to join the meeting, and further instructions. Those who wait to download Zoom will also receive a link to do that just before the meeting starts. If you are among those who need a few attempts to be successful with technology, you may want to get the downloading taken care of ahead of time.

Our meetings are a great opportunity to socialize with fellow WBA members and to talk shop on questions about everything from paint and varnish to carburetor kits. Please join us on Zoom to be a part of our monthly fellowship!

Shop Talk and Musings: The Passing of Bob Germany

What can we say about Bob Germany...larger than life, fearless, full of laughter and stories, faithful member? Bob passed away on June 7, 2025, less than a month shy of his 90th birthday. His distinctive and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who knew him, as he told stories from his adventurous life. His beautiful Higgins and Chris-Craft boats made the rounds of shows in the region, and were fine examples of Bob's care and craftsmanship.

Guys like Bob don't come along very often, and we already miss him dearly. We think this photo, shot by Andy Eng at the Keels & Wheels boat awards ceremony a couple years ago, captures the wonderfully humorous and unfettered spirit of Bob Germany. Fair winds and following seas, friend.

And finally, please take a look in the shed or garage for leftover parts or other salable items you would like to donate to the Club. Contact David Kanally at david@historywithheart.com for more info.
